Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 1, 2026

This policy describes how information is handled when you read oberstufeninformatik.de, a publication about computer science teaching, Java and databases. In the text below, we and us stand for the single operator who runs the publication and answers its inbox.

Visit logs

The server that delivers our articles records standard log entries, which can include an IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, the browser and device type and the referring page. We use them to keep the site available, to find broken pages and to notice abusive traffic, because running a reliable site is our legitimate interest.

Cookies and similar technology

The site relies only on what is needed to deliver pages and does not set cookies to profile readers. If the site ever adds analytics, advertising or affiliate tracking, this policy will be updated before they start and a consent choice will be offered where required.

Browser controls and opt-out signals

You can block or clear stored data in your browser, browse privately or use tracking protection. If your browser sends a global privacy or do-not-track signal, we will honour it wherever the tools behind the site allow. Blocking storage should not stop you reading code examples.

Emails and forms

When you write to [email protected], we receive your address and anything you add, such as a code snippet or a question about a lesson. We use it to answer you and to correct articles, which is the purpose you wrote for. Messages are not sold and are not published without your agreement.

Newsletters

The site does not currently send a newsletter. If one is introduced, the address you give will be used to send that mailing, on the basis of your consent, and each issue will explain how to unsubscribe.

Third-party services

The site depends on a hosting provider that stores and serves its files and may see technical request data. No embedded videos, social buttons or code-hosting widgets are in place. If the site adds any, or any analytics or ad services, those providers would receive technical data under their own notices.

Retention

Server logs are kept for a short rolling period and then deleted or reduced to anonymous counts. Emails are kept while they help us answer you or document a correction, then deleted, unless a legal duty requires us to keep them longer.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask what personal data we hold about you, request correction or deletion, object to particular uses, ask us to limit processing and receive a copy of what you supplied. To make a request, email [email protected] and describe what you need. We may ask for proof that the message comes from you, and we will reply within the legal time limit.

Complaints to a regulator

If you feel we have mishandled your data, you may complain to your local data protection authority if you are in the EU, EEA or UK, or to the OAIC if you are in Australia. You are also welcome to email us first, though you are never required to.

Withdrawing consent

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it whenever you like, and doing so does not affect earlier use. The Cookie Policy page linked in the footer of the site explains the steps, and you can also tell us by email.

Children

Oberstufeninformatik is written for upper-school students, teachers and adult learners, and oberstufeninformatik.de is not meant for under-13s. We have no wish to hold a young child’s details. A parent who learns that their child sent a message through oberstufeninformatik.de can email us, and we will delete that message and any reply.

Security

The site is a read-only collection of articles with no reader accounts, passwords or comment system, which leaves little to attack. Access to the hosting dashboard and the inbox is limited to the operator and protected with strong, unique credentials. Even so, no system is flawless, so we cannot promise absolute protection.

International transfers

Our hosting and email providers may process data in other countries, where the legal rules can differ from those near you. We choose providers that describe safeguards for such transfers where the law requires them.

Changes to this policy

If we add a feature such as a newsletter, or the rules on data protection shift, this text will be rewritten to match. The effective date above identifies the current version, and significant changes will be flagged on this page.

Your consent and the regulator

You may take back any consent you gave us at any point; what happened before stays lawful. The Cookie Policy lists every cookie this site sets and explains how to change your choice. If you live in the EU, EEA or UK you can complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office); in Australia, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
